Favourite tunes

Talking about my music taste, I've got a few bands and artists that I couldn't live without their tracks playing somewhere in the background.

My music "setup"

I usually listen to music after school. There is this magical feeling of not having anything to do anymore today, when it's getting darker and darker, sun is setting down... You know it. Last summer I bought myself a JBL Go 3 - a little, yet loud speaker. Very high quality for a very low price, it cost me around 180 PLN (45 USD). Even though the name suggest you taking it on the go, I think it works best as a home-based bluetooth-speaker (although you can take it outside if you wish, works without any issue).

For playing tracks from disks I own, I use a Panasonic SA-PM250 CD stereo system, got it from my dad. Not the best, but it gets its job done, enough for me. You can also play music saved on a pendrive, or listen to some local radio stations. It says it supports connecting through bluetooth, but every time I tried to link my phone to it, it just didn't connect.

I also have some old JBL headphones that I got from a competition way back in elementary - they were laying somewhere in my basement next to some dust.

Enough of setup, below I included some of my favourite artists and their songs that fulfill my heart while listening to.

Arctic Monkeys

My absolute favourite. There is just something in their music, that little spice of indie style mixed with calming rock. Hope this description is enough for you to understand.

I've now listened to all of their tracks published on Spotify, and if you are a deep fan like me you'll notice their change from more energetic rock to mild, easy-going songs perfect for a spa night with a hot chocolate included. Just take a look at "The Car" and their first album, dating back to 2006.

Right now, I only own "The Car", but I'm looking forward to getting more of their albums, especially "AM" from 2013. These two are in my opinion their best albums.

J.Y.N. 진

J.Y.N., short for Just Your Name, is a Korean-American singer and songwriter. A rising star from Chicago, IL. I like his music for how it sounds - it really hits different compared to everything else, in a good way of course. Currently he has two EPs on his account - first, "For Fuchsia" along with "Hard to Love Reflections", his most known track, and second, very recent - "Bittersweet EP". Both give me goosebumps. Imagine yourself in a train, getting back from your vacation and it started to rain outside. And "Antidote" just started playing from your headphones. That feeling. Love it.

Beach Weather

Another awesome band, known for its relaxed and soulful pop music. I discovered them, as most of their fans, by their hit "Sex, drugs, etc." released in "Chit Chat" EP back in 2016. After that song was popularised by social media, they got back with another album, "Pineapple Sunrise". Overall, they produce very catchy songs. Summer memories and vibes come back every time I listen to their music.

Other worth mentioning

Queen - my dad's idol was Freddie. Been listening to them since my early days, as my dad used to listen to "Bohemian Rhapsody" every day in the past. "Killer Queen" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" being my favourites.

Beabadoobee - bedroom-pop genre. Makes me feel warm before going to sleep. Most known for "Coffee", her first released song. Check out also "the perfect pair." from her newest album.

Lana Del Ray - more sad-like kind of music. I find her music fitting perfectly to the quiet nights. "Ultraviolence" and "Honeymoon" hence are my favourites.

Łydka Grubasa (weud-ka groobassa) - an amazing Polish rock band. I love their most recent album, "Socjalibacja" released in January 2020. Won't write about it much since you're not going to listen to their music, anyways.

K-pop venture

There is a reason for K-pop being separated from the rest of world's pop genre. Korean pop is usually energetic, funky and very very catchy - that is what makes it, for the most part, special and incredibly popular.

New Jeans (뉴진스) is a pretty fresh K-pop find, debuted in 2022 with their first EP "New Jeans" and recently releasing their second, "Get Up". They even produced music for League of Legends. World-famous due to social media influence. They make acutally really charming music, their music fits every mood. My favourite tracks include "ETA", "Cookie", "OMG" and "Ditto".

I listen to K-pop when working-out, fast beats mix perfectly with push-ups. If you want to find yourself some other groups, consider checking Spotify-made playlists. They update them quite frequently, although some more popular songs stay for a longer time.

But there are also other K-pop bands I sometimes listen to, listing good ol' BLACKPINK, LE SSERAFIM, Jung Kook and youra (김유라).
